CHAPTER ELEVEN -

WHO SHOULD FOLLOW CARNIVORE DIET?

You may be wondering if this meat-centric diet is appropriate for you or not. We recommend that you try it with some exceptions to the rule. In this section, you will learn more about who will benefit from this diet and who should not follow it. Before you go into the diet and eliminate all other food, you should consult a doctor or dietician who will check your health issues and medical background to determine what is appropriate for you. Every individual can have a plan that is optimized to suit his or her specific needs.

The carnivore diet is usually recommended more often for those who suffer from certain food intolerances. The diet is prescribed on a short-term basis for such people to help them find what foods are actually aggravating their condition. You can slowly introduce new foods into your diet and keep checking which has a negative impact on your health. Many people have found the diet useful in this respect. Food intolerance is suffered by a lot of people, and they find the carnivore diet useful in eliminating the negative symptoms associated with it.

The intolerance is a negative reaction that takes place when the person eats a particular food or even a food group. Some of the most common food intolerances are caused by wheat or dairy products. This will mean that such people have intolerance to a substance in those foods like gluten or lactose. Thus, they can prevent the symptoms by eliminating these foods. Other ingredients that might cause an issue are lectin or phytic acid that is usually found in plant foods. These ingredients can cause an issue with digestion; however, the carnivore diet doesn’t contain them so you can identify which food is causing the issue excluding the meat that you eat. Likewise, you will eliminate all potential intolerance causing foods and then slowly re-introduce them one at a time. As you observe the reaction your body has to each food, you will know which to eliminate from the diet.

If you have high blood pressure, you might really want to try the carnivore diet. We will give you an old account of the proof that this diet aids in maintaining better blood pressure levels. Their diet was quite high in animal fat; however, at some point around the late 1900s, a few of these families decided to immigrate to Denmark. When they migrated, they were introduced to a more modern Danish diet, which consisted of more plant-based foods and dairy products. Their meat intake and the animal-sourced foods in their diet were greatly reduced. When research was done, it showed that this change in their diet actually raised their blood pressure by more than ten points compared to before. They followed the guidelines
